Plainmail has a remote MCP server, so Claude and other AI agents can set up domains and mailboxes and read and send your mail. You sign in with your Plainmail account and choose what the agent may do.
Server URL
https://app.plainmail.dev/api/mcp/mcp
You need a Plainmail account with an active subscription.
Claude (web and desktop)
- Open Settings, then Connectors, and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it Plainmail and paste the server URL.
- Choose Connect, sign in to Plainmail, check the permissions you want and choose Allow.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http plainmail https://app.plainmail.dev/api/mcp/mcp
Then run /mcp, pick plainmail and sign in in the browser window that opens.
Other MCP clients
Cursor, VS Code and other clients that support remote MCP servers with OAuth connect with the same URL. For a client without OAuth, create an API key in Settings and send it as a header: Authorization: Bearer <key>.
Permissions
When you connect, Plainmail asks which of these to allow. You can allow some and not others.
- Read mail: list and read messages and attachments.
- Send and organize mail: send and reply, mark messages read or flagged, move them.
- Manage domains, mailboxes and billing: add and remove domains, mailboxes and aliases.
To disconnect an app, open Settings, find it under Connected apps and choose Revoke. It loses access right away.

Safety
Mailbox passwords never pass through the agent: a new mailbox comes with a link that shows its password once, to you. Email content is labeled untrusted in every tool result, and the server tells the agent never to follow instructions found inside an email.
