Email for every domain you own.
Real mailboxes on all your domains for $5 a month, flat. Set up hello@yourdomain in one line, then read it in Apple Mail, the Gmail app, Outlook or Thunderbird.
Private beta. We run it on our own domains first, so there is no public sign-up yet.
How it works
You keep your domains and your DNS where they are. Plainmail adds the mail records and gives you a mailbox.
-
Ask for an address
Tell Claude, through the Plainmail MCP server:
YouSet up hello@mynewapp.com on Plainmail
Or use the CLI or the API:
plainmail add hello@mynewapp.com -
DNS is written for you
Plainmail writes the mail records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC) at the DNS provider you already use: Cloudflare, Vercel or Porkbun.
Anywhere else, you get the exact records to copy, and Plainmail checks them for you.
-
Add it to your mail app
It is a normal IMAP/SMTP account. Add it to Apple Mail, the Gmail app, Outlook or Thunderbird next to your other accounts.
No forwarding and no new app to learn.
Built for personal mail, not bulk mail
Plainmail is for mail between people. Every customer shares the same sending reputation, so we keep it clean on purpose.
What it's for
- Replying to customers and users
- Writing to partners, vendors and friends
- Receipts and messages you send one at a time
- A real address on each project, not a Gmail alias
What it's not for
- Bulk or marketing email
- Newsletters
- Cold outreach
- Purchased or scraped lists
Outgoing mail is sent through Amazon SES. Bounces and complaints are tracked automatically, and your dashboard shows delivery, bounce and complaint rates for your mail.
Accounts with high bounce or complaint rates are paused and reviewed. The full rules are in our acceptable use policy.
One price, however many domains
No per-domain or per-mailbox fees. Fair-use limits keep one account from crowding out the rest.
$5per month
One plan. No free tier.
- Domainsup to 50
- Mailboxesup to 100
- Storage25 GB
- Outgoing mail200 per mailbox per day
Questions
Can I sign up today?
Not yet. Plainmail is in private beta while we run it on our own domains. Email us and we'll let you know when there's room.
Is there a free tier or trial?
No. Plainmail is $5 a month. Requiring payment keeps spammers out, which keeps everyone's mail out of the junk folder.
Do I need to understand DNS?
No. If your domain is on Cloudflare, Vercel or Porkbun, Plainmail writes the records for you. Anywhere else, it shows you exactly what to copy and tells you when it's working.
Can I send newsletters or marketing email?
No. Plainmail is for personal and transactional mail between people. Bulk mail, marketing, newsletters and cold outreach aren't allowed. Use a dedicated email marketing service for those.
Which mail apps work?
Any app that supports IMAP and SMTP, including Apple Mail, the Gmail app, Outlook and Thunderbird.
Where is my mail stored?
On our servers in Germany (Hetzner) and in object storage. See the privacy policy for details.
How do you stop abuse?
Paid accounts only, daily sending limits, and automatic tracking of bounces and complaints. Accounts with high rates are paused and reviewed. To report abuse, email abuse@plainmail.dev.
